तुमकुर (कर्नाटक) : कर्नाटक चुनाव प्रचार के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने शनिवार को राज्य के तुमकुर जिले में एक चुनावी रैली को संबोधित करते हुए एक बार फिर से कांग्रेस पर तीखा हमला बोला. प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने कहा कि कांग्रेस ने पिछले सात दशकों में किसानों की उपेक्षा की है. उन्होंने कहा कि कांग्रेस इंदिरा गांधी के समय से लेकर अब तक चुनाव जीतने के लिए गरीब लोगों को मूर्ख बनाती आ रही है. उन्हें न तो किसानों की चिंता है और न ही गरीबों की. लोग अब कांग्रेस से थक गए हैं.
चुनावी रैली को संबोधित करते हुए मोदी ने कहा, 'अब कांग्रेस वालो ने ऊपर से लेकर नीचे तक, लोकल हो देशी हो या विदेशी हो. इधर से हो उधर से हो. समझ हो या न हो. चने का पेड़ होता है या पौधा होता है. हरी मिर्च होती है या लाल मिर्च होती है. जिन्हें इतनी भी समझ नहीं है, जो लोग आलू में से सोना निकालते हैं, उन्होंने आज दिन रात किसान किसान चिल्लाना शुरू किया है.'
प्रधानमंत्री ने रैली में कहा, कांग्रेस की नीतियों के कारण आज किसानों की दुर्दशा है, हम उनके पाप धोने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं. कांग्रेस बस गरीब गरीब चिल्लाती रहती है. उन्होंने लोगों का जीवन ऊपर उठाने के लिए कुछ नहीं किया. अब उन्होंने गरीब कहना बंद कर दिया है, क्योंकिे लोगों ने अब एक गरीब परिवार से प्रधानमंत्री को चुना है.
जेडीएस कांग्रेस गठबंधन पर हमला प्रधानमंत्री ने इस रैली में जेडीएस और कांग्रेस पर भी हमला बोला. उन्होंने कहा, कहा, वह इन चुनावों में तो लड़ रहे हैं, लेकिन बेंगलोर में मेयर के लिए एक साथ हो जाते हैं. हालांकि इससे पहले जेडीएस प्रमुख एचडी देवेगोड़ा पीएम मोदी की तारीफ कर चुके थे.
प्रधानमंत्री राज्य में कांग्रेस सरकार पर निशाना साधते हुए कहा, आज तक तुमकुर के लोगों को हेमवती नदी का पानी क्यों नहीं मिला. हमारी सरकार एरीगेशन प्रोजेक्ट पर काम कर रही है. इस प्रोजेक्ट पर पिछले 30 सालों से कोई काम नहीं हुआ है. कांग्रेस को किसी की चिंता नहीं है. वह सिर्फ अपने कालेधन को ठिकाने लगाने में लगी है.

There's a scene in Where Eagles Dare in which Richard Burton with solid support from Clint Eastwood reveals the identity of the Nazi double agent contained within a notebook. The notebook, perplexingly, is empty. The agent is both revealed within its covers and yet simultaneously not there. Shroedinger's double-agent if you will. Burton delivers every line with mesmeric and gravelly perfection, but after watching that film at least a dozen times, I defy anyone to make sense of what the hell is going on.
For Burton and Eastwood read Sam Cook and Peter Siddle. Given the opportunity to bowl first on a brownish pitch under cloudless skies after Yorkshire elected for and won the toss, they delivered their lines and lengths with irreproachable professionalism and no little flair, but Yorkshire's batsmen were in no mood to match them.
To call the Yorkshire innings a procession would be to do a grave disservice to processions in modest churches up and down the land. It more resembled an unseemly stampede to the bar by smokers in a pub garden on hearing the bell for last orders.
Cook made the initial breakthrough in his first over when Harry Brook poked hesitantly at a ball just outside his off stump and guided the ball into Harmer's enormous mitts at second slip, but this merely brought Che Pujara to the wicket. Yorkshire had "strengthened" their batting with the inclusion of Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow, granted leave by the ECB to get some much needed middle practice before the test series against Pakistan begins in three weeks time, so the visitors boasted five recent and current front line international batsmen in their top six.
None presented a problem for Cook. In his second over he induced a thin edge from Lyth through to the evergreen Foster which brought forth Joe Root, shuffling and sidewinding into the middle for his first innings since April 1st. A bumper crowd got to see the familiar guard, the couple of paces to square-leg, the look round the field and one firm push at a ball beautifully landed on an off-stump line that travelled gently into the gleeful hands of his former captain Alastair Cook at first slip.
Then 9-3 swiftly became 11-4 when Pujara was trapped lbw by Jamie Porter for 9. Pujara was less than gruntled at the decision, but he wouldn't be the last man to be undone by moderately low bounce from the Hayes Close End.
Cook was not yet done with wrecking England's test match preparations. Next to go was Bairstow, bowled by the ball of the day; a beauty that held its line and thudded into off-stump. By the time he had Bresnan trapped in front it truly was a Wonderful Life for Cook as he registered his third five wicket haul in just his sixth championship appearance.
His 5-28 was notable for great control. He was willing to pitch the ball up and make the most of what movement there was off a helpful but far from capricious pitch, was supported by superb close fielding and was aided by a truly abysmal display by Yorkshire with the bat.
By the time Siddle had wrapped up the tail with a spell of 4-7 in 22 balls, Yorkshire had been obliterated in just 18.4 overs before lunch for 50, coincidentally exactly the same length of time it took for Australia to be famously dismissed at Trent Bridge in 2015.
Sages shook their heads in bewilderment but resembled teenage headbangers by the time Alastair Cook wafted a catch to Bairstow - the second England captain to make a duck in a couple of hours - and Tom Westley played a shot uglier than a Communist-era Bucharest tower block, hurling an injudicious bat at an away swinger from Brooks and dragging back on to his middle stump to depart first ball.
The opening session had yielded 61 runs for the loss of 12 wickets. By this stage, four of England's regular top seven last summer had been dismissed for 7 runs between them and a recall for Gary Ballance was looking less far-fetched by the minute.
The afternoon session produced no let-up in the mayhem. Ben Coad and Tim Bresnan, showing due deference to the eternal verities of line of length but at no great pace, made the ball do "just enough", and Bresnan in particular exploited the tendency of the ball to keep slightly (but really only slightly) lower from the Hayes Close End and was rewarded with a couple of lbws for his troubles.
Dan Lawrence tried the novel tactic (up to this point) of going hell for leather and for a while looked to have cracked the code with a 77 ball 48, up to that point by far the most authoritative, if still somehow skittish innings of the day. But aside from a late flurry from Simon Harmer (36) who briefly cover drove with the elegance of Wally Hammond, left the ball with the acuity of Steve Smith and marshalled what was left of the tail better than Angelo Mathews, Essex's innings offered little more sense of permanence than the Mayfly effort that had preceded it.
Three wickets apiece for Bresnan, Coad and Brooks had done the damage and tea was taken with Essex bowled out and in possession of a more than handy 92 run lead.
Record books were dusted down. When was the last time a match was completed in one day (1960 Kent v Worcestershire since you ask)? Might Essex be in a position to take claim the extra half hour? Would this day ever end?
Yorkshire decided to counter attack themselves. Bairstow replaced Brook at the top of the order and went after the new ball. His 44-ball 50 was full of familiar punch drives and lofted shots over the infield. Siddle managed to get the ball changed, immediately bowled Bairstow and had Lyth nibbling to second slip. At 96-2 Yorkshire were just in front but a late flurry of wickets would send them back to square one.
Enter Brook. The press box in Chelmsford was full of the great and the good, all come to watch Root, Cook, Bairstow, Pujara, maybe Ballance and Lawrence. Instead it was the 19-year-old Brook who provided the innings of the day. Entirely untroubled, possessed of a sound technique and keen to rotate the strike, his was the only performance that will have excited the selectors.
Marshalling Yorkshire, in tandem with Pujara to 161-2 at the close, and a more than useful lead of 65, he has the opportunity tomorrow truly to overshadow his more illustrious colleagues. Root, however, may yet have a say in that.
The pitch did ease as the day went on. Wise locals will tell you that it's hardest to bat on day one, but I defy anyone to watch today's play 12 times and explain to me what the hell was going on.
Patel's run out mishap ensures another day of highs and lows

Cricket made a belated return to Trent Bridge, where ongoing building work forced Nottinghamshire to play their first three matches away, but it was not long before the first anguished cries of "Oh! Samit" were heard.
Samit Patel has entertained and exasperated in equal measure throughout a 16 year county career which was encapsulated in the skittish innings he played here.
Patel laid the foundations for a competitive total despite occasionally struggling for fluency but his application against Fidel Edwards' testing and skiddy pace was counter-balanced by two of those "Oh! Samit" moments that have often tested the patience and humour of Mick Newell, Nottinghamshire's director of cricket .
The first came just before lunch when Patel ran out Ross Taylor, who appeared to be easing towards his third half century in four innings. Patel clipped Liam Dawson mid-on and ambled halfway down the pitch before realising that the ball had not beaten Hashim Amla. Patel turned but it was too late for Taylor who was beaten by a short head by his partner as both batsmen arrived at the striker's end while Dawson removed the bails at the other.
"It was a misunderstanding. I can see the funny side of it now to be honest," Patel said."We know these things happen in cricket and Ross knows that. I actually thought the ball had beaten Hashim."
Patel stood mortified, then swished his bat in self-admonishment while Taylor trudged back to the pavilion. Patel apologised to Taylor over lunch but his own innings became more scratchy after he had reached a 51-ball half century.
He spent 41 balls over his next 23 runs and was dropped by Amla in the slips off Chris Wood before Hampshire set an obvious trap and Patel took the bait when Edwards switched to the Pavilion End. Edwards put two men back for the hook, dug one in and Patel, hoping to clear the longest boundary, succeeded only in picking out Brad Wheal at deep square.
"I don't think it was a very good shot, but it might have stuck in the wicket a little bit," Patel said. "There's always a man there either for the flick shot or the pull shot and it's something we should probably address going into the second innings."
Patel's soft dismissal left Nottinghamshire with plenty of work to do before they were able to justify Steven Mullaney's decision to bat first on a green-tinged pitch. It required a battling half century from Riki Wessels, contrasting cameos from Tom Moores and Stuart Broad and some unlikely resistance from Harry Gurney.
Moores progressed mainly through inside and inadvertent edges - he twice found the third man boundary trying to leave deliveries - while Broad gave a passable imitation of David Gower with some languid off drives.
Broad eventually perished when he shovelled Wheal to midwicket trying to clear the invitingly short boundary on the Bridgford Road side and Nottinghamshire were 25 short of a third batting point when Wessels was ninth out, also taken at deep square.
But Gurney, an old-fashioned number eleven, made his second important contribution as a batsman in a week. At Worcester on Monday he held up an end while Luke Fletcher scored the runs Nottinghamshire needed to reach 300 and a declaration. Here Gurney played more shots and helped Jake Ball to secure a valuable extra point.
Having contributed with the bat, Nottinghamshire's pace bowlers then got on with their normal work. Broad produced an accurate and brisk opening spell from the Pavilion End which had Jimmy Adams, with Chanderpaul-esque stance, caught behind and Joe Weatherley at third slip - and at the third attempt - by Taylor.
"Stuart is a world class bowler, he knows exactly what he needs to do to be ready for that first Test Match and he's raring to go for us," Patel said.
James Vince managed to see off Broad but not Luke Fletcher who followed two looseners with a full length delivery that pinned Vince lbw.
Despite the efforts of Patel and Broad a crowd of almost 2,200 reserved their warmest applause for Fletcher on his first appearance at Trent Bridge in 10 months following his recovery from severe concussion.

जस्टिस जोसेफ की नियुक्ति के लिए SC में जनहित याचिका, शीघ्र सुनवाई की मांग उत्तराखंड हाई कोर्ट के मुख्य न्यायाधीश केएम जोसेफ को सुप्रीम कोर्ट के लिए प्रोन्नत करने के मामले में एक रिटायर्ड जिला न्यायाधीश ने याचिका दायर कर शीघ्र सुनवाई की मांग की है। महाराष्ट्र के सोलापुर के पूर्व जिला न्यायाधीश जीडी इनामदार ने याचिका में जस्टिस जोसेफ की शीर्ष अदालत में अविलंब नियुक्ति की मांग की है।
नीरव मोदी के खिलाफ कार्रवाई के लिए जांच एजेंसी ने नया अनुरोध नहीं सौंपा: विदेश मंत्रालय विदेश मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि आभूषण कारोबारी नीरव मोदी के खिलाफ कार्रवाई के लिए किसी भी जांच एजेंसी से उसे नया आग्रह नहीं मिला है। नीरव पीएनबी कर्ज घोटाला मामले में मुख्य आरोपी है। विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता रवीश कुमार ने कहा, 'हमें एजेंसियों की ओर से इस संबंध में कोई विशेष आग्रह नहीं मिला है।'
कश्मीर में अलगाववादियों नेताओं पर हो रहे खर्च का ब्योरा दे सरकार जम्मू कश्मीर हाई कोर्ट के डिवीजन बेंच ने राज्य के प्रमुख सचिव व गृह विभाग के प्रमुख सचिव को नोटिस जारी कर कश्मीर के अलगाववादी नेताओं की सुरक्षा व उनके उपचार पर हो रहे सरकारी खर्च का ब्योरा मांगा है। बेंच ने केस की अगली सुनवाई पांच जुलाई को निर्धारित करते हुए दोनों अधिकारियों को चार सप्ताह के भीतर अपनी रिपोर्ट पेश करने का निर्देश दिया है। साथ ही सैयद अली शाह गिलानी और यासीन मलिक समेत कई अलगाववादियों को अपना पक्ष रखने को कहा है।

Middlesex women broke records on Tuesday when they stepped out onto the main pitch at Lord's for the first time in their 85-year history.
Former England captain Charlotte Edwards captained the opposition for a T20 exhibition match between Middlesex Women and MCC XI.
"It's long-overdue, the fact that Middlesex women haven't played here in 85 years is just unbelievable," said Edwards at stumps.
"You just hope that this is now the norm for Middlesex and they get a fixture here every year, be it in this kind of game or a County Championship game".
Natasha Miles, Middlesex captain, added: "We deserve to play here, we put on a good show."
The match also fetched the biggest crowd for a domestic match in England - with 5,000 children in the stands - and follows on from the sell-out crowd for the World Cup final at the same venue last summer.
नई दिल्ली (जेएनएन)। कलम का सिपाही कहे या फिर कलम की धार से सत्ता को हिलाने का दम रखने वाला योद्धा या लोकतंत्र के चौथे स्तंभ का रक्षक...सीधे शब्दों में कहा जाए तो पत्रकार। दुनिया के किसी भी देश के उदय और उसकी प्रगति में पत्रकारों की अहम भूमिका रही है। भारत की आजादी के वक्त भी पत्रकारों ने महत्वपूर्ण किरदार अदा किया है, जिसे आज भी भुलाया नहीं जा सकता। साथ ही समाज में जाति-धर्म और संप्रदाय की गहरी खाई को भी कई बार पत्रकारों ने भरने का काम किया है। हालांकि समाज में पत्रकारों की स्वतंत्रता को कैद करने वालों की भी कमी नहीं है। जिस कारण प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता की मांग उठी और प्रत्येक वर्ष 3 मई को अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाया जाने लगा। इसकी शुरुआत 1993 में हुई थी, जिसका मकसद था दुनियाभर में स्वतंत्र पत्रकारिता का समर्थन करना और उसकी रक्षा करना। प्रेस किसी भी समाज का आइना होता है। प्रेस की आजादी से यह बात साबित होती है कि उस देश में अभिव्यक्ति की कितनी स्वतंत्रता है। भारत जैसे लोकतांत्रिक देश में प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता एक मौलिक जरूरत है।
स्वतंत्र प्रेस मतलब मजबूत लोकतंत्र
विश्व प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस के मौके पर प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने ट्वीट कर कहा, 'स्वतंत्र प्रेस एक मजबूत लोकतंत्र बनाता है। आज विश्व प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस के मौके पर हम एक स्वतंत्र प्रेस का समर्थन करने के लिए हमारी वचनबद्धता दर्शाए। यह विचारों और मानव अभिव्यक्ति की बहुलता है जो हमें समाज के रूप में अधिक जीवंत बनाता है।' उन्होंने आगे कहा कि मैं उन सभी लोगों की प्रशंसा करता हूं जो प्रेस की आजादी को बरकरार रखने के लिए काम कर रहे हैं।
अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस की शुरुआत
यूनेस्को की जनरल कॉन्फ्रेंस के सुझाव के बाद 1993 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने इसकी शुरुआत की, जिसके बाद से हर साल 3 मई को अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस मनाया जाने लगा। यूनेस्को महासम्मेलन के 26वें सत्र में इससे संबंधित प्रस्ताव को स्वीकार किया गया था। इससे पहले नामीबिया में विंडहोक में हुए एक सम्मेलन में इस बात पर जोर दिया गया था कि प्रेस की आजादी को मुख्य रूप से बहुवाद और जनसंचार की आजादी की जरूरत के रूप में देखा जाना चाहिए।
संवाददाताओं को श्रद्धांजलि देने का दिन
'अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रेस स्वतंत्रता दिवस' प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता का मूल्यांकन, प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता पर बाहरी तत्वों के हमले से बचाव और प्रेस की सेवा करते हुए दिवंगत हुए पत्रकारों को श्रद्धांजलि देने का दिन है। आज उन पत्रकारों को याद किया गया, जिन्होंने अपना फर्ज निभाते हुए जान तक दे दी, लेकिन लोकतंत्र के चौथे स्तंभ की गरिमा को मरते दम तक निभाया।
मीडिया की स्वंतत्रता को लेकर चिंता
गौरतलब है कि बीते कुछ वक्त से पत्रकारों पर हमलों के मामलों में वृद्धि देखी गई है, जिस कारण मीडिया की स्वतंत्रता पर सवाल उठने लगे हैं। मीडिया वॉचडाग 'द हूट’ ने अपनी रिपोर्ट में कहा है कि दुनियाभर में पत्रकारों की आवाज को दबाया और कुचला जा रहा है और उसे लगातार निशाना बनाया जा रहा है। विश्व में पत्रकारों के हत्याओं के मामले में 57 फीसद वृद्धि हुई हैं। इन लगातार हमलों से मीडियाकर्मियों और पत्रकारों में भय का माहौल बनाया जा रहा है। पत्रकारों पर हमले के मामलों में अफगानिस्तान सबसे ऊपर है।

वर्ल्ड प्रेस फ्रीडम डे पूरी दुनिया में आज मनाया जा रहा है। दुनियाभर की नामचीन हस्तियां इस मौके पर पत्रकारों को बधाई दे रही हैं। वैश्विक संगठन यूनेस्को ने ट्वीट कर लिखा- पत्रकारिता कोई अपराध नहीं है। बिना सुरक्षित पत्रकारिता के सुरक्षित सूचना हो नहीं सकती। बिना सूचना के कोई आजादी नहीं होती। आज और रोजाना प्रेस की आजादी के लिए खड़े हों।
भारत में पत्रकारिता को लोकतंत्र का चौथा स्तंभ माना जाता है। मगर हमारे देश में पत्रकारों की स्थिति पिछले कुछ सालों के दौरान बदतर हुई है। वर्ल्ड प्रेस फ्रीडम इंडेक्स की 180 मजबूत देशों की सूची में भारत तीन पायदान फिसलकर 136वें नंबर पर आ गया है। इससे पहले भारत 133वें स्थान पर था। इस सूची में पहले नंबर पर जहां नॉर्वे है, वहीं दक्षिण कोरिया सबसे नीचे पायदान पर मौजूद है। पूरी दुनिया में इस समय 193 पत्रकार जेल में हैं।
भारत के पिछले सात सालों के आंकड़ों पर नजर डालें तो परिस्थिति चिंताजनक बनी हुई है। साल 2012 में 74, 2013 में 73, 2014 में 61, 2015 में 73, 2016 में 48, 2017 में 46 और साल 2018 में अब तक 14 पत्रकारों ने काम के दौरान अपनी जान गंवाई है। यानी सात सालों में 389 पत्रकारों की जान केवल भारत में गई है।
दुनिया पत्रकारों के लिए नर्क वाली जगह बन चुकी है। वर्ल्ड प्रेस फ्रीडम इंडेक्स में 21 देशों को काले रंग में दिखाया गया है। जिसका मतलब है कि इन देशों में प्रेस की आजादी बहुत खराब है। वही 51 देशों को खराब स्थिति वाले वर्ग में रखा गया है।
इंडियन नेशनल कांग्रेस ने पत्रकारों को प्रेस फ्रीडम की बधाई देते हुए लिखा है- आज भारतीय पत्रकारों के लिए कठिन समय है। ईमानदार और संतुलित आवाजों को झूठ से दबा दिया जाता है। यह बहुत जरूरी है कि हमारे लोकतंत्र के चौथे स्तंभ को मजबूत बनाया जाए और इसे और निडर बनाने के लिए योगदान दिया जाए।
केंद्रीय मंत्री धर्मेंद्र प्रधान ने भी पत्रकारों को सूचना का महत्वपूर्ण जरिया बताया है। उन्होंने लिखा- मुक्त और ईमानदार प्रेस लोकतंत्र के रीढ़ है। प्रेस हमेशा से दुनिया भर में सूचना, आलोचना और संचार का एक महत्वपूर्ण माध्यम रहा है। इसलिए प्रेस की स्वतंत्रता आवश्यक है।

2- पीएनबी घोटाला: 19 लोगों के खिलाफ जल्द आरोप पत्र दायर कर सकती है सीबीआइ 13,000 करोड़ रुपये के पंजाब नेशनल बैंक (पीएनबी) घोटाला मामले में गिरफ्तार किए गए 19 लोगों के खिलाफ सीबीआइ जल्दी ही आरोप पत्र दायर कर सकती है। यह घोटाला अरबपति हीरा कारोबारी नीरव मोदी और मेहुल चोकसी से संबंधित है। अधिकारियों ने कहा कि जांच एजेंसी को मामले में गिरफ्तार आरोपियों के खिलाफ 90 दिन के भीतर आरोप पत्र दायर करना है। सीबीआइ इस समयसीमा में काम पूरा कर सकती है। नीरव मोदी, चोकसी और अन्य संबंधित भगोड़ों के खिलाफ जांच जारी है। एजेंसी मामले में उनकी भूमिका को अंतिम रूप देने में कुछ समय ले सकती है। अधिकारियों ने कहा कि जांच का दायरा व्यापक है लेकिन गिरफ्तार आरोपियों के खिलाफ आरोपपत्र दाखिल किए जाएंगे।
3- असम में 'IS NE' लिखे काले झंडे मिलने से मचा हड़कंप, जांच में जुटी पुलिस असम में 'आइएस एनइ' लिखे काले झंडे मिलने से हड़कंप मच गया। लोगों को झंडे के आतंकी संगठन इस्लामिक स्टेट (आइएस) के होने का संदेह है। दरअसल, बुधवार को असम के गोलपाड़ा कस्बे के लोगों ने ब्रह्मपुत्र नदी के पास एक पेड़ पर 'आईएस एनई' लिखे काले झंडे देखे, जिसे देखकर लोगों में दहशत फैल गई। यह खबर जैसे ही पुलिस को लगी, उन्होंने मौके पर पहुंचकर काले झंडों को अपने कब्जे में ले लिया।
4- सुप्रीम कोर्ट से अडानी ग्रुप को राहत, रद किया एनजीटी का आदेश अडानी ग्रुप को राहत देते हुए सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने नेशनल ग्रीन ट्रिब्यूनल (एनजीटी) के उस आदेश को रद कर दिया जिसमें इन्वॉयरमेंटल क्लीयरेंस के लिए कंपनी से 25 करोड़ रुपये जमा कराए गए थे। 2013 के उस आदेश में पर्यावरण सुधार के लिए धन जमा कराने के बाद ही काम आगे बढ़ाने का आदेश दिया गया था।
5- SC की आम्रपाली समूह को चेतावनी, कहा-सात मई तक समस्याएं दूर करो या भुगतो परिणाम सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने रियल एस्टेट फर्म आम्रपाली समूह को पांच दिनों में अपने सभी निर्मित आवासीय भवनों में एस्कलेटर, लिफ्ट और फायर सेफ्टी उपकरणों की मरम्मत कराने या फिर इसका परिणाम भुगतने की चेतावनी दी है। कुछ फ्लैट खरीदने वालों ने दावा किया है कि एस्कलेटर, लिफ्ट और फायर सेफ्टी उपकरण काम नहीं कर रहे हैं। रियल एस्टेट फर्म ने अभी तक ये उपकरण लगाए ही नहीं हैं। इस दावे के बाद शीर्ष अदालत ने बुधवार को यह निर्देश दिया।

9- स्टील पर आयात शुल्क मामला: अमेरिका के खिलाफ भारत का पक्ष सुनने को डब्ल्यूटीओ राजी विश्व व्यापार संगठन (डब्ल्यूटीओ) का विवाद निपटारा मंच अमेरिका के खिलाफ भारत की शिकायत पर एक अनुपालन समिति के गठन को राजी हो गया है। यह समिति इसका फैसला करेगी कि अमेरिका का भारतीय स्टील उत्पादों पर ऊंचा आयात शुल्क लगाने का फैसला डब्ल्यूटीओ के नियमों के अनुरूप है या नहीं। भारत ने पिछले वर्ष जून में अमेरिका के खिलाफ डब्ल्यूटीओ में शिकायत की थी। उसका कहना था कि भारत से आयातित कुछ स्टील उत्पादों पर आयात शुल्क लगाने का अमेरिका का प्रतिक्रियात्मक फैसला डब्ल्यूटीओ के फैसलों के अनुपालन का उल्लंघन करता है।

Puerto Ricans clashed with police in the streets of San Juan after protests against austerity measures took a violent turn Tuesday. The demonstration was in protest of proposed cuts to retirement benefits and looser labor laws, as well as school closures and slow hurricane recovery efforts.
One woman, Adria Bermudez, told The Associated Press that she was marching to protest the increase of the undergraduate cost per credit from $57 to $115, then to an eventual $157 over five years. She also called for government officials and legislators to reduce their salaries instead of implementing more austerity measures.
“The measures are aimed at the middle class and low middle class,” she said. “The rich don’t suffer.”
The protests reportedly became violent after hundreds of young protesters tried to enter the Hato Rey neighborhood, San Juan’s banking center. There, according to Bloomberg, helmeted police officers wearing gas masks formed lines to block them from advancing.
When the protesters tried to push their way through the police line, the officers reportedly responded by indiscriminately firing rubber bullets and tear gas at peaceful protesters.

The protests come as Puerto Rico is still trying to recover from the devastating effects of Hurricane Maria, which hit the island last fall.
More than seven months later, about 30,000 people on the island still don’t have power, and a recent Politico report confirmed that the Trump administration favored Texas recovery efforts over those in Puerto Rico. The botched recovery effort has had a devastating effect on the mental health of those living in Puerto Rico, too: Reports of suicide attempts on the island more than tripled between November 2017 and January 2018.
Now, Puerto Rico is trying to overcome a recession that has lasted more than a decade as well as restructure a portion of its $72 billion public debt. According to the AP, economists have warned that the poverty rate on the island could rise from 45 percent to as high as 60. The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins again in one month.

In the end the dogs didn't quite bark. While there were a few curious incidents, not least Rory Burns breaking his bat in two when defending a ball from Joe Mennie, there was not the grand dénouement for which Lancashire supporters had hoped.
But Surrey's batsmen did not make survival look elementary; indeed they gave one the impression it was a three-pipe problem. And there was not even a Manchester Particular to hinder them. Just when Surrey were approaching safety, the seamer took the new ball and had Foakes caught down the leg side for 57. No one could begrudge him a phial of good fortune. In his next over Bailey compelled a shot from Pope and the ball flew off the edge to the safe hands of Livingstone at second slip. There were now eight overs left in the game but Ryan Patel and Sam Curran batted them out. Bailey finished the innings with 4 for 13 from 19 overs and the match with 8 for 67 off 41. All this on top of a career-best 66. Whoever makes way for Jimmy Anderson for Friday's game against Somerset it will not be Bailey.
Lancashire had also enjoyed some earlier triumphs on this final day. For example, there was a strangulation five balls after lunch but the matter hardly merited detection. Mark Stoneman wafted at a ball from Bailey but only flicked the ball down the leg side where Vilas, who was deputising for the injured Alex Davies, took a straightforward catch. Nearly four overs later the same bowler brought one back in to Scott Borthwick, who did not attempt a shot and was bowled for nought. The case did not go to appeal. Lancashire's dancing men celebrated happily, forgetting, perhaps, the 26 fruitless overs they had bowled at Surrey's openers before lunch.
For over an hour Dean Elgar and Rory Burns seemed lost in a brown study. Only 15 runs were added in nearly 50 minutes' cricket before Livingstone got one to turn and bounce out of the footmarks at the James Anderson End. The ball caught the shoulder of Burns' bat and Keaton Jennings shimmied across from slip to take the dolly catch. Nearly half an hour later
